The Department of Environmental Science and Resource Management (ESRM) is the first of its kind in any university of the country. With the advancement of science and technology, we have to think about the changing environment as well as the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources and proper management. Keeping these points in mind, the Department sailed its academic activities on 29^th April 2004 with 40 students and two full time teachers through an orientation program with a mission to build up young green warrior who will fight for the mother earth as save guard of the life of this living planet. Now the students of this Department are around 300 including B.Sc. (Honor’s) and MS program. The MS program of ESRM Department started its academic activities on December 2009.

Environmental Science and Resource Management is a multi-disciplinary subject including physical environment, biological science, chemical science, social science, natural resources studies etc., which can address the issues and concerns in environmental arena. Considering the overall situation, the Department has been designed with the combination of various subjects for 160 credits in the B.Sc. (Honors) program including 4 credits of practical research and more than 20 credits for laboratory sessional (laboratory and field works) including physical, chemical and biological analysis in undergraduates courses and MS program includes 36 credits of which 6 credits are research works on various environmental issues.
